Our Online Giving Philosophy and FAQs
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do,” says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, “I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!" - Malachi 3:10 (NLT) Tithing is our biblical expression of covenant with God over our finances. The Bible teaches that everything we have comes from God and belongs to Him. He is the owner of everything and we are His stewards (money managers). Giving gives us an opportunity to give back to God a portion of all that He has so generously given to us. Through giving we show God we trust Him as our provider. The storehouse in today's world is the local church you are attending. By partnering our monies and resources together, God's work is done more effectively.
The word 'tithe' means one tenth. Thus, to 'tithe' would be to give one tenth or 10% of our earnings. Tithing (10%) is the starting point of biblical giving. Offerings are gifts that are given above and beyond the tithe.
Jesus Christ addressed the subject of giving more than He did any other subject. Matthew 6:21 says, "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." Together we work as a church to reach those who don't know Christ and to make an eternal difference in Elko and it's surrounding areas. Your gifts are used to fund God's work through the ministry of Calvary Baptist Church. We do this through our weekend services for children and adults, our small groups, reaching out to neighbors in Elko County, and through our support of local and world wide missionaries. We can accomplish so much more when we are together than when we are separate. Our annual budget is determined based on the goals and objectives of each ministry area within the church.
1. With the convenience of the Internet, you can now make contributions or payments at anytime and from anywhere if you have access to a computer.
2. By adding further privacy to the process of giving, your tithes and offerings can be between you and the Lord.
3. With online accountability, you can track your payment history and manage your account through PayPal with an email address and a password.
PayPal is an e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made though the Internet. PayPal serves as an electronic alternative to traditional paper methods such as checks and money orders. It does not cost the user (sender) anything to join PayPal or to send money through the service, but there is a fee structure in place for those members, such as Calvary Baptist Church, who wish to receive money. PayPal automatically encrypts your confidential information in transit from your computer to theirs by using the Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) with an encryption key length of 128-bits (the highest level commercially available). Before you ever log-in to the PayPal site, their server checks to ensure that you are using an approved browser – one that uses SSL 3.0 or higher. You can sign-up for a PayPal account for free and there’s no charge to transfer funds from your bank account to your PayPal account. If you’d rather not sign-up for a PayPal account, you may give online or register for a Calvary event as a PayPal Guest by using your debit or credit card.
Yes. We are set-up to accept your gifts or event registration through PayPal only.
You can open a PayPal account by clicking here or by visiting PayPal.com. Once there, click the ‘Sign-up’ link at the top of any PayPal page. Select a ‘Personal Account’, fill out the form and follow the rest of the directions. Opening a PayPal account is quick and easy!
Once you send your money, we will receive an email notification of your gift or event registration. We then deposit the funds into our local bank account.
This is simply how PayPal shows a payment has been made to a non-profit organization. Once we receive the email notification from them, we will be able to see the type of gift that was made, as well as where it is to be designated. The funds will then be disbursed to the place you chose (through the drop-down box).
Yes. We will update your contribution record after each online donation. Your record will reflect your gift as you chose it when you selected it from the drop-down box above. We do not release the giving records of any individual or family at Calvary Baptist Church. You can be certain that whether you choose to give during the offering on Sundays or online via PayPal or your financial institution (through Bill Pay), your gifts are secured and used responsibly.
Although Calvary Baptist Church does not encourage making payments with a credit card, you may use any approved credit or debit card to make payments from your bank account. The preferred payment method on PayPal is instant transfer from your confirmed bank account.
You will always have the option of paying by check or cash and we will continue to take offerings as a part of our worship times together. Online giving is simply offered as an alternative to those who prefer to manage their finances electronically.
ALL GIFTS, DONATIONS, EVENT REGISTRATIONS, AND DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE.
