  Annie Armstrong

Each year, we honor the life and work of Annie Walker Armstrong (1850-1938) when we give to the annual offering for North American missions named after her. As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeavors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union, for which she served as the first corresponding secretary.

Annie believed in Christ with all her heart, but it was her hands that expressed that belief in tangible ways. She spent a great amount of time typing and handwriting letters in support of missions. Many of these letters were quite lengthy and all were filled with conviction that more could and should be done in our mission efforts.  In 1893 alone, she wrote almost 18,000 letters! Annie also never hesitated to use her hands to reach out to hug a child or distribute food and clothing and the Word of God to those in need. Her hands held her own Bible as she studied to know how best to share Gods love with others. And, most important, Annie was a woman of prayer, folding her hands in prayer to intercede for the missionaries and for those they were helping discover Christ.

Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ. As we continue to unite to make her vision a reality in North America today, we can be confident that her legacy will also be ours.

 Annie Armstrong Easter Offering®

·         Why Give to Annie Armstrong? Because three of four people in North America are lost. One hundred percent of dollars given to the AAEO go to support over 5,000 missionaries and their ministries in the United States and Canada.
·         Don't Miss It!
·         During each spring, our church will be celebrating the North American Missions Emphasis through (video segments, special prayer emphasis, special worship/message). Don't miss out of this special time of learning how Southern Baptists are living with urgency and sharing Christ the U.S. and Canada.
·         North American Missionaries
Though their stories and methods are different, they share a common urgency for sharing the gospel with North American. Whether it is starting a new church, meeting the needs of the homeless, leading worship at a ski resort, or leading Back Yard Bible clubs, missionaries depend on the faithful prayers and generosity of Southern Baptists. Please pray for our missionaries and give generously to the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering®.
2011 Budget Allocations
"Giving to our North American Mission Board provides much needed help in starting language churches, helping needy people and sharing the gospel in a vast, unreached mission field. That vast mission field has the capacity to impact the world and that field is right here where we live. We can do more corporately (churches working together) than any church can do on its own." — Rich Halcombe, director of missions, Metro Columbus Baptist Association, Columbus, Ohio
Ask missionaries what the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® means to them, and they will readily admit that it is the lifeblood for their service.
When Southern Baptists place their money in the offering plate, they are in essence placing it in the hands of a missionary. Every dollar given to the AAEO goes to support missionaries on the field. The North American Mission Board works in partnership with state conventions to distribute monies given through the AAEO to missionaries and their efforts.
Since the offering's inception, more than $1 billion has been received by the North American Mission Board to use in reaching people in North America for Christ.

The 2011 national goal for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering® is $70 million. Receipts to the 2011 AAEO will fund mission endeavors noted below, and these will in turn lead thousands upon thousands to Christ.
Missionary Support—$49,700,000—71%
The largest expenditure of AAEO funds is for salaries (the majority of missionaries are jointly funded by state conventions and NAMB), health benefits, orientation, and ongoing training expenses of mission personnel.
Church Planting Support—$11,900,000—17%
In 2009, Southern Baptists started more than 1,400 new churches. Mission pastors serve English-speaking and language churches in rural and urban settings. Offering funds provide overhead costs for starting a church such as rental of a facility, material, and promotional expenses.
Evangelism Support—$8,400,000—12%
Avenues for evangelism are varied. They include church and community ministries, resort ministries, and literacy missions, to name a few. Projects that undergird missionaries’ work, such as sports evangelism, Scripture distribution, special evangelism events, Internet evangelism, and media use are ways missionaries use AAEO funds to impact North America for Christ.
