Charlie and his wonderful wife, Bea both accepted Christ as their Lord and Savior in 1975 while attending Westbury Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. From the time he was born into this world until he became of age, Charlie was a ward of the state (in and out of numerous orphanages and foster homes). To say that he grew up troubled would be an understatement; nevertheless, God has always had a plan for him. Charlie likes to put it this way, “God, a little red book (a well-worn Gideon’s Bible), and my wife changed my life.” Charlie and Bea, who have been married for 37 years, moved to Elko for employment at Barrick in 1988 and have been a part of Calvary’s family since that time, as well. He is not only our new Building Mainenance Coordinator and one of CBC’s Deacons, but he and Bea are also very involved in Children’s Ministry (a ministry they have been continually active in and loved doing since they were first saved in 1975). Charlie’s life passages are from John 3:16 (NKJV) ~ For God so loved (Charlie’s emphasis) the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” and John 11:35 (NKJV) ~ “Jesus wept.” In his spare time, Charlie likes to referee football, basketball and baseball games for all age groups. His favorite things to do are fishing, golfing, bowling, and riding his Harley; his greatest love is spending time with his family (especially his grandchildren).

Dean accepted Christ as his Savior as a child: (2 Timothy 3:15 (KJV) - "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."). Being raised in a Christian home made it easy for him to accept Christ's gift of salvation by simple child-like faith. There was a period of backsliding & rebellion for a few years in Dean's life, but he came to an awareness of the error of his ways & rededicated his life to the LORD while he was still in the army. Ron Richardson ~ Church Deacon

As a young boy, Ron attended Christian school for several years in California before moving to Montana where he then attended public school. He grew up in a loving home and his family occasionally attended a local Methodist Church. In 1990, many years later, Ron and his beautiful wife, Chris, both accepted Christ - together - as their Lord and Savior while attending Grace Baptist Church in Elko. He has served in ministry in many different ways since becoming saved, but it wasn’t until his health was affected during the winter of 2010 that he realized that he had never developed a close and personal relationship with God. During that time, Ron relied on God and His healing power to see him through the dark valley he was in and, as a result, he rededicated his whole life to Christ. Ron and Chris have been married for 29 years and they have two great sons and one beautiful daughter-in-law. They originally moved to Elko in 1989, moved back to Montana in 1996 and returned to Elko in 1999. He is currently employed at Newmont as a Sr. Chemist and QC Supervisor. Ron and Chris have been at Calvary since 2009. He recently began serving as a Deacon and he also helps teach the Jr. High Sunday School class. Two significant Scripture passages in his life and walk are Job 23:10 and Isaiah 41:10, which says: (NIV) “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” In his spare time, Ron enjoys taking outdoor pictures and making barnwood frames, fly-fishing, woodworking, cooking with Chris, going to antique and second-hand stores, working outside/around the house, and watching movies outdoors during the summer.

Ron Tyler

Ron Tyler ~ Church Deacon

Ron’s father followed construction jobs; therefore, most of his younger years were spent moving from place to place. Attending church as a child was a hit or miss affair, mostly miss; they were never in one place long enough to really become involved in church. He and Kitty have been married for 31 years; their son, Shawn, lives in California and is going to Nursing School. Ron accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior shortly after the loss of their oldest daughter in December of 1999; she was a senior in high school and was looking forward to graduating later that year. The only thing that helped him cope with the loss was the peace that he found in prayer and in reading the Bible. Ron and Kitty worked with the State of Nevada as foster parents until they adopted two wonderful girls, Judy and Lisa, who were considered special needs (Judy and Lisa have provided for Ron and Kitty’s special needs©©©). When time permits, he enjoys riding his motorcycle and working on computers. Ron’s favorite Scripture is Psalm 62:5-6 (NASB) ~ “My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken.”

Keith Wood ~ Churchwide Prayer Coordinator

Keith grew up in New York state until the age of eleven. Around that time, he and several family members became believers and moved to south Florida where he finished high school. It was while he was there that he gained a foundation in the faith through solid Bible teaching at his church. His college years were a time of increased seeking of the Lord, resulting in several school changes and times off - years in which the Lord’s leadership became clearer. During this time, he spent a year and half at Moody Bible Institute, a time that strengthened his understanding of the Bible and Christian ministry. He eventually completed a BA in Christian Missions at Montreat College in North Carolina. He also participated in summer mission trips to China and Haiti. However, God had other plans and rerouted him into geology. He spent several years getting core undergrad courses and getting to know his fellow geology major and future wife, Patricia. The two married and attended Virginia Tech, completing their Masters degrees in 1996. Keith has since worked as a geologist in Greece, Montana, Winnemucca, and now, in Elko. Along the way, his passion for teaching developed while leading home Bible studies and Sunday School classes. A favorite verse is Colossians 3:1 (NASB) ~ “Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God." He also loves mineral collecting and has an extensive collection.

Set your minds on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you will also be revealed with Him in glory." ~ Colossians 3:1-4 (NAS).

Charlie Brannen ~ Building Maintenance Coordinator/Church Deacon

Dean Diehl ~ Church Deacon

Dean accepted Christ as his Savior as a child: (2 Timothy 3:15 (KJV) - "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."). Being raised in a Christian home made it easy for him to accept Christ's gift of salvation by simple child-like faith. There was a period of backsliding & rebellion for a few years in Dean's life, but he came to an awareness of the error of his ways & rededicated his life to the LORD while he was still in the army. Dean has been married to Patricia for 43 years & they have been members of Calvary since 1990. They have 2 sons: Jeff, who lives in Ft. Worth, TX & Brian, who lives in Indianapolis, IN.

He always has a project going, whether it's building something in his shop, or helping out a friend or neighbor with one of their projects. Steve enjoys being outside,

Patricia Wood ~ Women's Ministry Team Leader

Patricia grew up in the beautiful green state of North Carolina. While studying geology in college, however, her eyes were opened to the rugged beauty of the western states. In her senior year of college she became a Christian due in part to the patient guidance of fellow geology major and now husband, Keith. Keith and Patricia have had the opportunity to travel and live in a variety of places, including Virginia, Greece, North Carolina, Montana, and Nevada. They recently made Elko their home after having lived in Winnemucca for six years. Keith and Patricia are currently enjoying raising a son and two daughters. In her ‘spare’ time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her beautiful family. Patricia's passion is for studying and teaching the Word of God and she has a range of experience in leading women's Bible studies. Her favorite part of the Old Testament is the Exodus. Her favorite book of the New Testament is Philippians with a favorite passage being Philippians 4:4-7 (NIV) ~ "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!  Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
